An announced released by Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation today stated all shipping agency service providing companies are required to register to the ministry before 16th august 2020 as a shipping agency. It also states after 16th August 2020, its prohibited for companies who do not have shipping agency licence from Transport Ministry to provide services.
Shipping agency guideline of Maldives explains the services an agency company can provide. Under new changes made by Transport Ministry, all these service must be provided by a registered shipping agency.
Under this new changes in law, rates for rental and freight charter by shipping agents importing goods to Maldives must be public.
Companies who disobey the rules will be fined MVR 10,000.
