The area where the British Loyalty was torpedoed is known for its beauty. While this spot is extremely popular with divers who visit Addu City, the area has now been protected.

The organizer of this event, Nalafehi Meedhoo has said that this event was first planned to be held with the participation of 75 British divers. However, due to the COVID-19 and lack of time, they had to settle for 75 Maldivian divers instead, said Nalafehi Meedhoo.

Today’s event which is held to kickoff the golden jubilee celebrations of the British Loyalty shipwreck is an initiative by Nalafehi Meedhoo, in collaboration with Addu City Council, dive centers, resorts, guesthouses, clubs, organizations and schools.
