President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu mourns the loss of national footballer Mohamed Arif (Baka), describing it as a profound sadness for all Maldivians.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of national footballer Mohamed Arif, widely known as Baka. In a heartfelt post on X, the President highlighted Arif’s immense contributions to Maldivian football and noted that his death is a significant loss for the nation.

President Muizzu acknowledged Arif as a talented player who brought pride to the country through his remarkable football career. He conveyed his prayers for the family of the late Mohamed Arif, wishing them patience during this difficult time. Additionally, he prayed for Arif’s eternal blessings in Paradise.

Vice President Hussain Mohammed Lateef also sent his condolences to Arif’s family. He expressed his shock upon hearing the news of the former national team midfielder’s death and extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Arif was admitted to ADK Hospital after returning to the Maldives following the Hajj pilgrimage. He passed away this afternoon while undergoing treatment. His untimely demise has left a profound impact on the football community and the nation at large.
