The Independent Institutions Committee of Parliament has agreed to send the dismissal of Civil Service Commission (CSC) Vice President Ibrahim Rasheed to the Parliament floor.
During the committee meeting held on Monday, the audio was turned off, and all members present, except one, voted in favor of advancing the issue to Parliament. Since the meeting was conducted without audio, the specific reasons for seeking Ibrahim Rasheed’s dismissal remain unclear.
The letter from the Committee will be presented during Tuesday’s Parliament session, after which it will be sent back to the committee for further review. According to parliamentary procedures, the dismissal of a member from an independent institution can only proceed after the committee has approved forwarding the matter to Parliament.
The Speaker will then announce the issue and refer it back to the committee for further consideration. Ibrahim Rasheed has been a member of the Civil Service Commission since his appointment in September 2020.
