On 21.03.2025, MI College’s School of Agriculture departed on a five-day study trip to Thailand. This trip will offer students a firsthand experience of the country’s advanced agricultural practices. This initiative bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by exposing students to Thailand’s innovative farming techniques, sustainable agriculture models, and agribusiness development.

During the trip, students will visit an agricultural market in Bangkok to explore the workings of Thailand’s agribusiness sector. Additionally, they will travel to the Sam Phran District, renowned for its orchid farms, to learn about orchid cultivation and fertilization methods.

“Our coursework at Mianz International College has been incredibly enriching, laying a strong foundation in agricultural principles. Now, I’m beyond excited for the Thailand trip! I’m particularly eager to see how they manage agriculture in a humid tropical climate, something we deal with here in the Maldives. Learning about their techniques for controlling humidity, managing pests, and optimizing crop yields in such conditions will be invaluable. It’s a fantastic opportunity to translate theory into practical knowledge on a global scale,” said Mariyam Waheeda, a top-achieving student in the agriculture program.

“This educational excursion to Thailand offers our Agriculture students at Mianz International College an invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the diverse and innovative agricultural practices that have propelled Thailand to the forefront of the global market. We are confident that this experience will broaden their perspectives, enhance their practical skills, and inspire them to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of agriculture in the Maldives,” stated Mianz International College Rector, Lamya Abdul Hadhee.

MI College continues to emphasize experiential learning, and this trip reflects the institution’s commitment to providing students with global exposure and practical insights that will empower them to contribute effectively to the agriculture sector in the Maldives.
