According to the State Trading Organisation (STO), there will not be a shortage of eggs, potatoes, or onions.

Plans have been made to ensure that there will not be a shortage of eggs, potatoes, or onions during the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan, according to the STO. As in past years, the STO stated that supplies of eggs, potatoes, and onions will be made to the nation while taking supply and demand into account in order to stabilise the market.

It was disclosed by STO that the first consignment of potatoes was sent to the Maldives yesterday. Onions have been valued at RF 20, at RF 1.75, and potatoes at RF 15 respectively. In addition to STO industrial village, STO People’s Choice and Wholesale Centre sold onions, potatoes, and eggs that were brought in with yesterday’s cargo.

The STO said that the products will be made available in two locations in the near future: THE STO Industrial Village and the STO Wholesale Centre.

Furthermore, 11 establishments located in 11 atolls will receive cargo, according to information provided by the STO. Delivery of the consignment to the islands near the shop will be handled by STO employees.

According to the STO, food items priced in the nation’s marketplaces will also be brought during the month of fasting in addition to onions, potatoes, and eggs. Without running out of merchandise from regular stores, the lease partners’ goods will also be offered at STO People’s Choice.

In addition, STO stated that a shipment of lemons will be sent to the Maldives in order to maintain price stability, as the market price for lemons is rising.

In January of this year, compared to December of last year, food costs decreased by 4.62%, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (MBS). The problem will be resolved by the shipments because Ramadan prices are often higher for eggs, potatoes, and onions.
