President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the Fifth Amendment Bill to the Elections (General) Act (Act No: 11/2008). This action follows legal counsel provided by the Attorney General.
Speaking with the citizens of N. Ken’dhikulhudhoo earlier today, the President stated that he has requested for legal counsel from the Attorney General regarding the Fifth Amendment Bill, and will act as per the AG’s legal counsel.
He said he did not want the election to be held during Ramadan and had already requested that the election be held before Ramadan.
The President has assured the people that he will always uphold the Constitution and do everything in accordance with the Constitution and laws.
