Addu City Council has banned individuals from selling fresh fish in public areas.
In a statement released by the council on March 26, fresh fish sold in ice boxes and selling food items in public areas will be banned till further notice. The council also stated any individual violating the order will be punishable by law.
The city council further said these measures are taken due to the road disinfections programs conducted in Addu City starting from March 27, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the nation.
Maldives has reported 13 positive COVID-19 cases. They are 5 from Kuredu Island Resort, 2 from Sandies Bathala Maldives, 2 from Kuramathi Island Resort, 2 from Anantara Dhigu Resort Maldives and 2 from Island Safari. Out of the 13 individuals tested positive for the virus 8 individuals have fully recovered. All individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives so far are foreign nationals.
