Fifa President Gianni Infantino has stated that the death of football legend Pele has left him “heartbroken,” and that Pele was the greatest athlete of the century.

After a protracted battle, Pele passed away last night from cancer. Pele’s health deteriorated, and he was admitted to the hospital in November. Prior to that, a tumor was removed from Pele’s body in September 2021. Pele, who was hospitalized during the World Cup, continued to send out messages to the world. Family members gathered at the hospital yesterday as Pele’s condition worsened. Pele was 82 years old when he died.

Pele’s death has elicited condolences from the sports community. Fifa president Infantino said in a message that Pele’s death broke his heart, describing Pele as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Cristiano Ronaldo said Pele gave him “extraordinary courage” every time he spent time with him.

“When you see Pele’s magic, the entire world comes to a halt. Pele accomplished feats on the field that other players could only dream of. The world has been shocked by Pele’s death. Pele is regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time “Infantino’s message was read aloud.

Pele’s most notable accomplishment in his 21-year career was winning the FIFA World Cup three times. Pele led Brazil to World Cup victories in 1958, 1962, and 1970. Pele was only 17 years old when he won the World Cup in 1958. At the same age, Pele scored twice in the World Cup final.

In 2000, Pele’s extraordinary magical abilities earned him the FIFA Player of the Century award.

Pele scored 77 goals in 92 matches for Brazil. Pele, along with Neymar, is Brazil’s all-time leading scorer. By scoring one more goal, Neymar can surpass Pele’s record.

Before Pele, football was only seen as a sport, according to Neymar. Pele arrived and transformed football into a recreational sport, forever changing the world of football. 

“Everything changed when Pele arrived. He took football and made people love it while also making the voices of blacks and the poor heard. Football was just a sport before Pele” Neymar stated.

“Anyone who loves football will always have fond memories of Pele,” he said.

US President Joe Biden also expressed shock at Pele’s death. Biden stated that Pele appeared to be the ideal player from the start of his football career.

Pele also received condolences from Kylian Mbappe. “Pele is the king of football, and Pele’s legacy will live on,” Mbappe said in his message.
