In light of the increasing number of cybercrimes in the country, the Attorney General’s Office (AG) has forwarded three bills to the President’s Office highlighting cyberspace offenses.
According to the AG’s office, the bills aim to criminalise cybercrime because perpetrators of such crimes use technology to expand their criminal activities.
The bills include procedures to empower law enforcement agencies as well as changes to the existing procedures for inspecting personal transactions under the Criminal Procedure Act, according to the AG’s office.
Unauthorised access to a computer system, unauthorised inspection of data, and unauthorised interference with computer data are among the offences listed in the bill.
Furthermore, the bill makes it a crime to misuse devices, publish child pornography through computer systems, create child pornography cards, and store child pornography cards in a computer system.
