The Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA) has confirmed that another person has died in the Maldives due to Covid-19.

According to HPA, a 74 year old Maldivian male in K. Maafushi who was declared dead at 9.45 a.m., has tested positive for Covid-19.

This is the 87th Covid-19 related death in the Maldives.

Earlier today, a 75-year-old Maldivian female admitted at IGMH/ER was also declared dead at 4.00 a.m. Additionally, an 85 year old at B. Atoll Hospital also passed away due to Covid-19 earlier this morning.

Maldives has seen a rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the past couple of weeks. Yesterday alone, 1,091 tested positive for the disease across the country and the number of hospitalized patients stands at 250.

So far, Maldives has recorded 35,815 positive cases and 26,299 recoveries.
