The Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA) has decided to increase the time frame of the curfew imposed in the Greater Malé Area.

According to HPA, effective from 06th May 2021, a curfew will be imposed in the Greater Malé Area (Malé, Hulhumalé, Vilimalé) from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Yesterday, the curfew was imposed from 12 a.m. till 4. a.m. This is an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the area, said HPA.

HPA has said that the Maldives Police Service will continue to issue permits for essential travel such as delivery services and other essential needs during the curfew hours.

This decision comes after HPA strengthened the precautionary measures imposed on the Greater Malé Area, effective from 05th May 2021 till 15th May 2021.
