Over 56,000 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine across the Maldives.

According to Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA), a total of 6,171 people received the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday. Amongst these, 4,310 were vaccinated in the Greater Male’ Area, while 1,861 of the vaccinations are from the atolls.

Furthermore, so far a total of 56,218 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine across Maldives, including 43,838 in the Greater Male’ Area and 12,380 from the atolls.

The vaccine currently being used in the Maldives is the Covishield vaccine developed by the AstraZeneca-Oxford University, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
