The Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA) has confirmed that over 5,000 people were vaccinated for Covid-19 across the Maldives yesterday.

According to HPA, a total of 5,485 people received the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday. Amongst these, 4,257 were vaccinated in the Greater Male’ Area, while 1,129 of the vaccinations are from the atolls and 99 people were from the resorts.

Furthermore, so far a total of 38,591 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine across Maldives, including 31,322 in the Greater Male’ Area and 7,170 from the atolls and 99 from resorts.

The vaccine currently being used in the Maldives is the Covishield vaccine developed by the AstraZeneca-Oxford University, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
