The Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA) has confirmed that over 12,000 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine in the Maldives.

According to HPA, a total of 3,190 people received the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday. Amongst these, 2,663 were vaccinated in the Greater Male’ Area, while 527 of the vaccinations are from the atolls.

Furthermore, so far a total of 12,934 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine across Maldives, including 10,626 in the Greater Male’ Area and 2,308 from the atolls.

The vaccine currently being used in the Maldives is the Covishield vaccine developed by the AstraZeneca-Oxford University, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
