The President’s Office on Wednesday opened applications for the post of member of the Elections Commission (EC). Applications for the position are open as the tenure of a member is set to expire.
The President’s Office will accept applications between 08:30 a.m. and 13:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Application forms are available from the President’s Office and are available for download at www.presidency.gov.mv.
The requirements for the post include being a Muslim, a Maldivian citizen and being aged 25 years and above. The applicants must also not have been convicted of any crimes within the past five years.
In addition, they must not be holding a political office elected under any law and must not be employed by the government or any other body. They must not be serving a sentence of more than 12 months for a criminal offense and if they have been convicted of a criminal offense and sentenced to more than 12 months, they must have completed their sentence for 5 years.
Furthermore, the applicant must not be a member of a political party or a person active in a political party.
Candidates must submit the application form, the candidate’s affidavit, the completed criminal and debt record form, the form to be cleared by the Election Commission to check whether he is registered with a political party, as well as the résumé of the candidate.
