An 85 year old Maldivian male taken to B. Atoll Hospital earlier this morning was declared dead at 8.30 a.m., confirms the Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA).
This is the 86th Covid-19 related death in the Maldives.
Earlier today, a 75-year-old Maldivian female admitted at IGMH/ER was also declared dead at 4.00 a.m.
Maldives has seen a rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the past couple of weeks. Yesterday alone, 1,091 tested positive for the disease across the country and the number of hospitalized patients stands at 250.
So far, Maldives has recorded 35,815 positive cases and 26,299 recoveries.
