Business Center Corporation (BCC) has entered into an agreement with the Fuvahmulah City Council to set up a creator hub in the city.

The agreement was signed by BCC Managing Director Ibrahim Ziyaau Mohamed during a ceremony held on Saturday, with the Mayor of Fuvahmulah, Ismail Rafeeq, signing on behalf of the City Council.

After the signing, Ziyaau mentioned that the creation of such hubs across the country will help advance President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision of establishing a creative economy in the Maldives.

He added that fostering creativity and innovation will also lead to solutions for current societal challenges.

The BCC is dedicated to involving artists in the process of building a creative economy in the Maldives and is organizing creative confluences nationwide to gather their insights and feedback.

In addition to the main Creator Hub in the capital, Male’, the BCC plans to set up Creator Hubs in various regions to support artists throughout the country.

Outlined as a commitment in President Dr. Muizzu’s manifesto, the Creative Economy Strategy is now set for a five-year roadmap. This plan encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including the integration of creative programs into school and higher education curricula, as well as providing incubation services and resources for professionals and aspiring artists in various creative fields.

As part of the Creative Economy Strategy, President Muizzu has also launched the Creative Economy Fund, which will provide support to individuals looking to enter creative industries. Initially, the fund will focus on filmmaking, music production, arts and crafts, and digital content creation, with more creative sectors becoming eligible starting in 2025.
