Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan emphasized the significant responsibility of judges nationwide on Thursday, urging them to be fair and just in all their decisions.

During the oath-taking ceremony for new magistrates, he stated that judges hold the crucial duty of maintaining peace and stability in the country.

He highlighted that judges’ primary role is to safeguard the interests of the state, which can only be achieved through fair practices as outlined in the Constitution.

The Chief Justice reminded the new magistrates of their substantial responsibility and encouraged them to adhere to their oath. “This is a great duty and responsibility for us judges.

We must continue to fulfill this responsibility in accordance with our oath,” he remarked.

He mentioned that magistrates need to engage closely with the community, more so than other courts, and urged them to be compassionate and considerate in their service.

At the ceremony, magistrates took their oaths for seven different magistrate courts and received their appointment letters from the President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Hussain Riza Adam.

The appointed magistrates will serve at the Baarah, Kendhoo, Thinadhoo, Maafushi, Kaashidhoo, Maavah, and Gadhdhoo Magistrate Courts.
