The process of paying compensation to civil personnel who retire after turning 55 years old has been initiated by the government.

Gaemanafushi Island schoolteacher Mohamed Nafees asked President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today in the “President’s Answer” series about the lack of a retirement benefit for civil personnel who retire at age 55.

One of the president’s electoral promises is a pension for civil servants who retire at age 55.

In this regard, the President stated that the administrative process has already begun in the President’s Office. In the event that the case requires parliamentary resolution, the President stated that the Attorney General’s Office is collaborating with their office to pursue legal action.
“The Attorney General and our legal team must collaborate to use the law to make this possible. I am uncertain if any modifications will require submission to the Parliament.”

The President has pledged to carrying out this commitment.
