In an attempt to become the candidate for the Male’ City by-election to become mayor, former attorney general Azima Shakoor has submitted her nomination papers. Azima’s nomination was given to PNCF Chairperson Ibrahim Abdulla (Adhurey) during a brief ceremony last night at the PPM/PNC’s new office.
Speaking with reporters following the filing of her nomination papers, Azima stated that she had made the decision to run for mayor in order to continue serving the public in the same manner as she did in the past.
According to Azima, Male’ city would be better off electing a mayor who has experience dealing with the government at present.
Azima further stated that the country is facing significant problems on a national level. According to Azima, these problems can only be rectified by addressing the problems in Male’ City. Since Male’ City is home to half of the nation’s population and has easy access to all resources, Azima stated that she thinks the problems that need to be solved are severe ones.
Azima therefore submitted her candidature for Male’ City mayor. “With the Government of Mohamed Muizzu, we are on the verge of resolving such issues,” she stated.
