Former MTCC CEO Adam Azim has decided to contest for the post of Mayor of the Malé City Council.
While Azim has decided to contest for the post, a large number of supporters have started campaigning and showing support for him on social media. Former Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof has also expressed his interest in contesting for the MDP ticket for mayorship of Malé City.
Former Mayor of Malé, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was sworn in as the President of the Maldives on 17th November 2023, leaving the post of mayor vacant. The election for a new mayor will be held on 13th January 2024.
