A 40-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into Fuvahmulah by air.
Maldives Police Service has said that the man was arrested following a tip-off received by the police. During the operation conducted on November 27 at the airport, a small bag, an empty film bottle and 36 rubber packets suspected of containing drugs was confiscated from the man.
He was produced before the Fuvahmulah Magistrate’s Court and ordered to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
The case is being investigated by the Fuvahmulah Police Station.
