Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation of a case in which a tourist vacationing in a Maldivian resort was raped.
Police said that a case of rape of a tourist on vacation at a resort in K. Atoll was reported on 6th June 2023.
Samples needed for the investigation are being taken and questioned, police said.
Police said that no arrests have been made in the case and that the incident is under investigation.
Sources report that the victim is a Chinese who is pursuing studies in Australia. She had come to Maldives with a dive group. The woman alleges that she was raped by the butler assigned to her room at the resort.
