Maldives Police Service has rescued people reported to have been held hostage in a house in Malé City, Maldives.

Police said they received a tip-off today that some people had been kidnapped at house on “Abadhah Ufaa” street in Henveiru and attended the scene following the information.

Police said they attended to the incident and used force to enter the premises and rescued the hostages.

Furthermore, Police have said that three Maldivian men were found captive in the house. They appeared to have received injuries due to violence and abuse and were taken to the IGMH for medical treatment, said the Police.

A Maldivian male below 18 years of age and another man were arrested in connection with the incident, said the Police.

Police said they are looking into this case and are conducting further investigations.

Recently, kidnapping incidents have been on the increase in the city and other islands. These include cases of Maldivians kidnapping Maldivians and foreigners kidnapping Maldivians as well.
