According to HDC, Kudagiri picnic island will be officially opened in February, with final preparations underway.
The government had planned to open Kudagiri on Independence Day last year, but due to unforeseen circumstances and incomplete work on parts of the island, the island’s opening was delayed. Since then, the state government has made every effort to open it by November 11 of last year but to no avail.
Customers must book the island to travel to Kudagiri, according to officials. It is also stated that a special booking application will be developed and launched within the next few days.
According to reports, there are separate rules that people must follow while on the island. There is said to be a designated smoking area, and smoking in other areas of the island except for the designated smoking zone is strictly prohibited.
The HDC is also working on ferry services to Kudagiri from Male’ city, with the ride taking about 15 minutes by launch. The island is intended to host large gatherings, parties, and events. However, the company is making an effort to charge visitors to the island the least amount of money possible.
Last Thursday, HDC shared a video on social media depicting the Kudagiri island. The island can be seen nearing completion in the video, with playgrounds created for children as well as sea sports and fun activities for adults.
For those visiting the island, there will be a mosque, clinic, café, and separate changing rooms provided.
