As South Palm Resort Maldives is getting ready to welcome their first guests in the upcoming month of December, it is worth noting that the entire management of the resort comprises of Maldivians only. While majority of the employees are citizens of Addu City, it is the resort’s topmost priority to hire as many Maldivians as possible for new job openings, says the management.
The resort has been developed on a 1.2km island called Ismehela Hera, located right next to Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City. Ismehela Hera was previously an uninhabited island used by citizens of Meedhoo for going on picnics during weekends and holidays. However, now the island has been fully developed into a modern resort with luxurious amenities and a wide, white sandy beach as one of its major attractions.
The development of the resort has been a dream come true for the citizens of Addu, and will undoubtedly bring various benefits and opportunities for the people of Meedhoo and Hulhudhoo once the resort fully opens.
The resort is being developed in three phases by South Palm Maldives, a company headed by Ibrahim Saleem (Bandhu Saleem) and Moosa Dhayyan. The development of the resort began in mid-2017 and after two years, the first phase of the project is nearly complete. At the end of the first phase, South Palm Resort Maldives now has beach villas, family villas, sunrise villas, water villas, palm villas and over water pool villas along with a dive center, gym as well as a clinic and a souvenir shop. Moreover, a modern mosque with all necessary facilities has also been built in the resort.
The first phase of the resort also has a world class bar and restaurant and the environment friendly spa of the resort is one of the most prominent features of the island. The spa has been developed on a lake with floating rooms and “Kurumba Spa” is definitely going to be one of the most serene and tranquil places of the resort.
While 60 out of 130 rooms of the first phase have been completed now, South Palm Resort Maldives will welcome their first guests on 01st December, 2019 and will offer special packages to Maldivian locals.
According to Moosa Dhayyan, CEO of South Palm Maldives, the resort will offer friendly, cheap and affordable prices to the locals.
“The prices will be announced very soon”, says Moosa.
Moosa previously worked at Herathera Island Resort (now rebranded to Canareef Resort Maldives) as the General Manager and introduced various packages especially for Maldivians which allowed locals to stay at the resort at cheap and affordable rates. Moreover, many programmes such as family eves for the families of employees made the resort very popular among the locals.
Moosa also said that South Palm Resort Maldives will also host such events and form a close relationship with the locals. Additionally, an auditorium that can host large scale conferences and events will also be built soon, and all the services will be ready for the resort’s grand opening, said Moosa.
While the resort has a total staff of 150 employees currently, more job vacancies have been announced and will have a total of 600 employees when it begins operations.
In addition to the newly developed resort, Addu City already has three more resorts in operation, namely Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Canareef Resort Maldives and Equator Village.
