The Maldives national football team lost 3-0 to Malaysia in an international friendly.
The team was defeated 3-0. Samuh Ali (Samutte) has captained the team for 11 games under Francesco Moriero of Italy. Akram Abdul Gani (Aku), the previous captain of the national team, was absent from the game due to knee surgery.
The Malaysian team took the lead in the 24th minute thanks to Lok. Lok hit the ball on the leg side while Maldivian defender Hussain Shifaau Yousuf (Kuro) attempted to save it.
With no opportunity to thwart a potentially dangerous attack, the Malaysian team led 1-0 at the end of the first half.
The local team made some substitutions in the second half. In the second inning, coach brought in Ali Ashfaq, Hamza Mohamed, and Mirash Imtiaz from Spain’s fourth division, Unio Espotiva Rubi.
In the 64th minute, Malaysia scored their second goal of the game. Mohammad Faisal Halim of Malaysia had scored a free kick.
In the 88th minute, Lee Tuck scored Malaysia’s third goal of the match. Lee hit the post with a low cross from Sergio Aguero of Malaysia.
A friendly match between Singapore and The Maldives will be played three days later.
