Dr. Mohamed Munavvar, former Attorney General of the Maldives, has raised concerns about President Nasheed’s representation of Sri Lanka at the World Environment Summit COP 27 in Egypt.
President Nasheed is a member of Sri Lanka’s delegation to the ongoing COP session. He went on to criticize the Speaker of Parliament for accepting a salary from taxpayers to represent another country in a delegation.
Dr. Munawwar and former Attorney General Azima Shukur have both expressed concern over the situation.
President Nasheed is the International Climate Advisor to Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe. He will attend the COP meeting as part of the Sri Lankan delegation and advocate for the protection of Sri Lanka’s interests.
