The Government of Maldives has conferred Rehendhi Awards to 8 outstanding women and 1 state company in recognition of their service to the nation.

In celebration of women’s day, the government present the award to empower women’s development in the Maldives and recognizes their outstanding development efforts to the nation. The ceremonies were attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as chief guest along with the first lady Fazna Ahmed and Vice President Faisal Naseem.

Winners of the Rehendhi Awards are:

  • Nafeesa Ali , Muniyage, Th. Vilufushi (For Women Development)
  • Dr. Fathimath Mufliha, H. Kandigey, K. Male’ ((For the development in Health Sector)
  • Lieutenant Firushan Thaufeeq, Sunrise, Maathodaa district, GDh. Fares-Maathodaa (For the development in Health Sector)
  • Izrath Ahmed Nizar, Selvin, Hdh. Makunudhoo ( For the development of Historyand culture)
  • Aishath Ibrahim, H. Kulavarugasdhosugey, K. Male’ (For the development small and medium enterprises)
  • Dhimna Fakeer, Guldhasthaa, S. Feydhoo (Social Development)
  • Shimla Ahmed, Astral ge, S. Hithadhoo (For the Development of Media and Journalism)

The Rehendhi Award is an annual award bestowed by the Gender Ministry since 2014 – to recognize the outstanding contributions to societal and national development on behalf of women across different fields, as well as to recognize those individuals and organizations working towards women’s development.
