Air Quality Monitoring systems have been set up in Addu city. The system would determine how clean air would be in the city.
A ceremony was held on Monday in Equator Village to launch the following project. During the ceremony, an agreement was signed between the Addu City Council and The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. The agreement was signed by the Addu city council mayor – Ali Nizar and Minister of State for Environment Climate Change and Technology – Dr Abdulla Naseer.
The air quality system set up in Addu city is the IQAir brand system. The air quality system is the first of its kind in the Maldives. According to the ministry, these kinds of similar systems would be set in 10 local islands and the ministry has noted that the following system was set up under the PSIP projects.
With the establishment of the system, Addu city becomes the first city and island to establish an air system in the Maldives.
