The Indian High Commission has announced that it has released the third instalment of MVR 11,496,095.75 for five eco-tourism High-impact community projects in Addu City.
The Maldives and India have signed an MoU between both countries to run the project under the HICDP grant scheme in Feburary of last year. The project involves the development of eco-tourism zones in five districts of Addu which includes Feydhoo, Meedhoo Hithadhoo, Hulhudhoo and Maradhoo through a grand allocated which is approximately around MVR 38 Million.
The previous two instalments were released in July 2020 and March 2021. According to the Indian High Commission, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities and enhance eco-tourism opportunities in the South.
There are additional projects are underway across the Maldives through the Indian government grant. The High Commission stated it hope to see a massive change in Island communities on the Island, and write a new chapter of partnership between both nation.
