The Managing Director of Addu International Airport Gais Naseer says it important to have good interconnectivity amongst all southern airports with Addu .
Speaking at with news reporters during the welcoming ceremony of first SriLankan airline flight back to Addu International Airport after a 2 year hiatus. He highlighted the importance on maintaining continuous flight operations to Addu International Airport through interconnectivity with all local airports in the south. Gais stated that he hopes to connect all airports starting from Dhaalu Atoll onwards and spoke about the ongoing negotiations between two local airlines (Manta Air and Maldivian) to routes to connect the airports. He further pointed out that Maldivian has given a commitment in creating a good connectivity between the airports and had noted that since 2016 there has been no good connection amongst the airports. Gais had also noted that the international airport is ready to welcome all domestic carriers and seaplane operators to start operations with the airport.
SriLankan Airlines first resumes its operations in 2016 and since has continued to fly to addu city without any interruption.
