The Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA) has confirmed that 5717 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine in the Maldives, today.

According to HPA, a total of 4609 were from Male’ area and 1108 were from atolls. This brings the total vaccinated number to 33106 people.

In total, 27065 people from Male’ and 6041 people from atolls have received a jab. This is the result of 8 vaccination centers in Male’ and 54 centers in atolls around the Maldives.

The vaccine currently being used in the Maldives is the Covishield vaccine developed by the AstraZeneca-Oxford University, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. This vaccine has been approved by WHO and recommended by them.
