President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to extend the closure of all government offices and education institutes for an additional week due to global COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision was announced following the advice from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) in respect to the rapid global spread of COVID-19 and to mitigate the possibility of such rapid spread in Maldives.
President further instructed all institutions to continue services with minimum number of staff encouraging all staff who are able to work from to home to do so to ensure the timely delivery of crucial services.
President Solih appealed to all Maldivians to practise social distancing and to remain home noting it is the most imperatives step to reduce the risk of community spread. He advised all Maldivians to head to the instructions set forth by health care professions as a safety measure against COVID-19 pandemic.
