An official send-off ceremony for the first batch of 10 AGO staff members who will be attending a customized “Training and information sharing exchange program” at the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) International training centre at iCISA, Noida, was held on October 26th, 2022. The CAG of India’s major training institution, iCISA, runs foreign training programs, including the ITEC program, which is the country’s premier training initiative.

The training program is being organized in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that CAG India and AGO Maldives signed in October 2021 and the visit to India in February 2022 of a 10-member delegation headed by the Auditor General (AG) of the Maldives to discuss and lay out the roadmap for capacity building in emerging audit areas.

This two-week training course would cover subjects like Performance Audit, Compliance Audit, Financial Audit, and Audit of State Owned Enterprises. It would also cover Audit Implementation, Data Analytics & Computer Aided Audit Techniques, Application of Statistical Concepts in Data Analytics, Audit of Fraud and Corruption, and other related topics.

The first customized e-ITEC program for AGO Maldives in financial audit was attended by 20 auditors and assistant auditors in August 2021, and the second customized e-ITEC program for AGO Maldives in information systems & audit was attended by 50 auditors and assistant auditors in November 2021. During the COVID19 pandemic, when physical trainings were not possible, around 70 Maldivian auditors participated in both programs. ITEC will begin offering a variety of fully financed training programs in the auditing field in 2022.
