A whale carcass has been spotted drifting within the Vaavu atoll.

According to the tweet, Shujau Ali, the president of the V. Atoll Council, The information had been passed on to the police. Shujau posted a video of the carcass. He added the council is considering putting the skeleton on display for tourists to see. He stated that the council would consult with relevant authorities to determine how to proceed.

The body is expected to wash ashore on Madangiri, an uninhabited island between V. Thinadhoo and V. Felidhoo. The situation is being constantly monitored by the council.

The huge whale species is thought to be rather prevalent in Vaanu atoll, according to some residents.
