Hulhumeedhoo Court has given a 15 day detention period to the 5 individuals who escaped from Herathera quarantine facility.
92 individuals stranded in Greater Male’ Region were brought back to Addu City on May 5. All individuals who returned back were placed in Herethera for a 14 day quarantine period regarding the current COVID-19 situation in Maldives. However, 5 local men fled from the quarantine facility on May 6. Police have found and arrested the 5 men and they were given a 15 day detention period from Hulhumeedhoo Court.
Among the 5 individuals include 2 Adduians and 3 Fuvamulah citizens. Police stated the case is currently under investigation.
