Malé, Maldives — Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that fairness and justice will remain the guiding principles of his administration, both in times of success and failure.
The President made these remarks while addressing a gathering in Rasdhoo, held to celebrate the victory of candidates from the People’s National Congress (PNC) in the recently concluded local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections across Rasdhoo, Thoddoo, and Ukulhas in Alif Alif Atoll.
Speaking at the event, President Dr Muizzu underscored that elected positions represent a public trust and carry significant responsibility. He called on PNC representatives elected to local councils and WDCs to carry out their duties with sincerity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation.
He emphasised the importance of impartial service, stating that elected officials must serve all constituents equally, regardless of political support. The President further urged members to lead by example and work collectively to ensure effective and responsible governance, noting that unity and fairness are key to achieving success.
President Dr Muizzu also highlighted the government’s commitment to working closely with all elected representatives to serve the public. He reiterated that national policies and decisions are grounded in the principles of equity and justice.
Reflecting on the recent election, the President acknowledged that while the PNC secured a number of seats nationwide, it faced setbacks in major cities and during the referendum vote. He described the outcome as a mixed result, encompassing both notable successes and significant losses.
Despite these challenges, the President reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to move forward with determination, fulfilling development pledges across all regions. He stressed that development efforts will be carried out equitably across all islands, without discrimination.
Concluding his address, President Dr Muizzu assured that the government remains committed to serving the people with fairness and equality, pledging that all promises made to the public will be delivered without bias.
