The “Global Commitment to Zero Waste for the World, Our Common Home” was made open for worldwide signatures during the U.N. General Assembly in September.

The declaration stresses the need to promote efficient use and reuse of exhaustible resources and reduce waste generation through recycling to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

It calls upon U.N. member states, civil societies, the private sector, and the media to adapt their strategies and approaches to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and reduce waste’s impact on climate change.

First Lady Sajidha met with First Lady H.E. Emine Erdoğan on Monday as part of the first couple’s official trip to the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, First Lady Sajidha expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to her and the Maldivian delegation during the visit.

The first ladies also discussed on women’s empowerment, gender equality, capacity building, human resources, and climate change.
