Former Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has criticised the Government of Maldives following Israel’s recent travel advisory against Maldives.
In a series of Tweets, Dunya stated that the Government of Maldives has been blinded by the influx of USD from Israeli tourists to ban Israeli passport holders from traveling to Maldives. She added that the government should have taken a stronger stand earlier and banned Israeli tourists.
Dunya Tweeted in the wake of Israel’s foreign ministry issuing a travel advisory stating that anti-Israel sentiments are high in the Maldives and therefore requesting Israeli’s not to travel to Maldives at this time.
Dunya, who is amongst the most experienced women in foreign relations in the Maldives, has been vocal on her criticism of Israel’s attacks on Palestinians in Gaza. She called the bombing of Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza which killed dozens of Palestinians one of the deadliest attacks on a hospital in this century.
Additionally, Dunya stated that it is becoming evident that the US and UK are involved in the crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.
