Thursday marked the formal opening of the Galolhu Police Station’s new building. Mohamed Hameed, the commissioner of police, inaugurated the new structure at the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) building during a formal event. Male’ Hiyaa had been the site of the previous Galolhu Police Station.

Senior officers from Galolhu Police Station, as well as Deputy Commissioner of Police Ali Rasheed and executive and commissioned officers of the Maldives Police Service (MPS), observed the inauguration ceremony.

The Male’ Hiyaa building, according to the police, was no longer deemed a suitable location to provide public service due to its considerable wear and tear. As a result, operations of Galolhu Police Station were moved to the NSPA building.

After the tender was made public, the NSPA structure was chosen as the new site of the Galolhu Police Station. The structure is being rented by MPS for a duration of 2.5 years.

Galolhu Police’s response officers, investigation officers, and neighborhood officers will all be operating under the same building as service provision at the building gets underway. Therefore, MPS claims that the change in venue would improve services offered to district citizens even more.
