Dubai budget carrier FlyDubai has confirmed that it would postpone its Gan route flights till the end of June. The airline was initially set to launch operation on February 4 of this year.

The current Dubai-Malé flights will now be able to accommodate travellers who have previously made reservations for travel the following month. Additionally, consumers are free to adjust their travel dates.

The Managing Director of Inner Maldives, Mohamed Firaq confirmed that the airline will now begin operations in Gan starting on June 24th. Inner Maldives is the local agent for FlyDubai.

Speaking on the recent change, Firaq stated that the airline will promote tourism in the southern region of the country with Inner Maldives’ support. Tour operators have also requested a delay in flight operations for them to market the destination.

Before taking off on our flights, we can take part in eight exhibitions and work to advance travel to the southern region of the nation

Said Firaq

Once their Gan operations start, the airline reportedly will raise its frequency to 28 weekly flights to the Maldives.

FlyDubai started launched its operations in the Maldives in 2013 with direct flights between Velana International Airport (VIA) and Dubai.
