Addu City Council has prohibited indoor dining at cafés and restaurants across the city.

In an announcement released today, Addu City Council stated that the Council has decided to implement some restrictions effective from 16:00 on 8th February 2021 until the monitoring status is lifted off the city by HPA or until further notice from the Council.

Council has decided to enforce these measures after HPA placed the entire city under monitoring and due to a high risk of a community spread in the city.

Following are the restrictions Council has decided to place citywide:

  1. All services except takeaway/delivery prohibited at cafes and restaurants. Restaurants and cafes should ensure that there is no exchange of cash when providing takeaway/delivery services and ensure all staffs’ adherence to HPA guidelines.
  2. Ban of operation of roadside stalls (gaadiyaa).
  3. Adhere to HPA’s guidelines regarding the maximum number of customers allowed inside a shop at once and take other precautionary measures.
  4. Prohibition of communal gatherings at parks and other common areas.

Addu City Council has requested all the citizens to abide by these rules and restrictions, saying that they have been placed for the safety and security of all the citizens.
