President Dr Mohamed Muizzu affirmed that governance is a huge responsibility entrusted by the people. He made the remark while speaking on the special programme of “Baajjaveri Hendhuneh” yesterday morning to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu, the national radio station of the Maldives. First Lady Sajidha Mohamed accompanied the President.
Sheikh Shuaib Abdurahman, a former teacher of President Dr Muizzu, advised him on the radio programme to exercise thoughtful decision-making in governance for the best outcomes for his people and not to take his responsibilities too lightly. Responding to this advice, the President agreed with the view, highlighting that he shared the same perspective on governance. Sheikh Shuaib fondly reminisced about the President’s student days, characterising him as a reserved, compliant, and well-mannered student.
Speaking further, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to fulfilling the numerous promises and pledges made to the people. The President also announced a nationwide tour, starting with Guraidhoo Island of Thaa Atoll, where he received most of his electoral votes. The President anticipates visiting about 100 islands before the next Ramadan and aims to visit every island twice during his tenure to maintain a close connection with the citizens and understand their needs firsthand.
The President and the First Lady also shared insights into their personal lives and engaged in friendly interactions with acquaintances and members of the public who joined the radio programme.
