Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Fahmy Hassan, has been dismissed after just four days of appointment.
President’s Office has confirmed the dismissal of Fahmy, who was appointed as the State Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday, but did not explain the reason for his resignation.
Fahmy had earlier been removed from his position as the chairman and member of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for allegedly sexually assaulting a female employee of the commission. The case was referred to the Supreme Court in 2013, which ruled that all proceedings against him were null and void.
The government has been criticized for appointing Fahmy as a state minister following allegations of sexual assault.
