The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has opened the registration for this year’s poor and needy registry.

In an announcement made today, the Ministry stated that new registrations for the poor and needy list will be open until 22 June 2023. The registration has been opened during this period for people from Malé, Vilimalé and Hulhumalé only.

Applications can be submitted to the Islamic Ministry between 09:00 and 12:00 on working days. The Ministry also stated that those who received this year’s Zakat Al-Fitr and have not informed the Ministry about change of condition are still enlisted in the poor and needy registry.

Additionally, they will not have re-register, but application must be submitted again if they have a child turning 18 or an adult turning 65 by the 22nd of this month, the Ministry said.

While there are 8,446 people in the latest registry of poor and needy released by the Islamic Ministry, 1,736 of them are registered in the Malé area.
