A delegation of senior journalists working in the Maldivian media has left for India on an experience trip. The Familiarization Visit for Maldives will be attended by 17 journalists from major media outlets registered in the Maldives, and will include visits to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Agra.
On May 6, the participants left for Delhi via the Malay-Colombo-Delhi route on SriLankan Airlines.
The program will provide journalists with more information about India and allow them to experience and understand the environment in neighboring India. The program will include meetings with senior officers of the Ministry of External Affairs, and trade and commerce associations. Additionally, information about the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled to be held in India in September this year will also be shared with the participants.
Furthermore, meetings have also been scheduled with various institutions dealing with a diverse set of issues such as the media, climate change, renewable energy, good governance, maritime security, aquaculture and fisheries research, as well as IT, startups and medicine research, and educational institutions.
The program is sponsored by the Indian High Commission and includes visits to New Delhi’s monuments and historical sites. The participants will visit the Kutub Minar, the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Charminar and the Golconda Fort in Hyderabad. The journalists are scheduled to return to Maldives on May 13 on Indigo airlines via the Hyderabad-Delhi-Male’ route.
The Indian High Commission believes that the articles published in connection with this visit will reach a wide audience in the Maldivian market. In addition, the latest travel guidelines and experiences available in India will be shared with the press team. The High Commission believes that the visit will strengthen the relationship between Maldives and India and exchange accurate information between the two countries. India is a country with many companies involved in major development projects in Maldives. It is important for Maldivian journalists to know about India’s business, economy and other affairs.
