Ooredoo Maldives partnering up with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has enabled customers to make donations to Waqf Fund through m-Faissaa to aid in renovations and developments of mosques.

The service was launched on Wednesday at a special ceremony officiated by Ooredoo’s CEO, Managing Director Khalid al-Hamadi, Islamic Minister Dr Ahmed Zahir Ali, and held in Masjid al-Inara in K. Himmafushi.

Dignitaries from Himmafushi and the Ooredoo Maldives management also attended the occasion.

Speaking during the occasion, Islamic Minister Zahir stated that the Ministry has always strived to make it simpler for people to deposit money into the Waqf Fund set up for the purpose because so many members of the community want to contribute to the upkeep and growth of mosques around the country.

“In this regard, I believe that giving the people the chance to support mosques through Ooredoo m-Faisaa service would be of tremendous convenience to the people,” he continued.

Using its resources, Ooredoo, according to its CEO Al-Hamadi, always tries to strengthen the Maldivian community and promote development. He also spoke at the occasion.

Waqf funds are among the most reliable sources of support for philanthropic endeavours worldwide. We are happy to support the Waqf Fund created by the Islamic Ministry today by making it easier for people to donate via our mobile money platform, m-Faisaa,” he continued.

According to Ooredoo, payments to the Waqf Fund of the Islamic Ministry can be made by simply using the m-Faisaa feature on the Ooredoo App to scan the QR code shown at mosques.

At Masjid al-Inara, the first QR code was posted as part of the program. More QR codes will reportedly be added in the future to other mosques, according to Ooredoo.
