Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Skills Development, Ali Ihusaan\u00a0has reaffirmed the government\u2019s strong commitment to eliminating the exploitation of expatriate workers and creating a fairer working environment across the Maldives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to PSM News during a Workers\u2019 Day march in Mal\u00e9, which drew large numbers of participants from various sectors, the minister outlined ongoing efforts to address long-standing labour issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that protecting the rights, safety, and wellbeing of both Maldivian and foreign workers remains a top priority. According to Ihusaan, the government is focused on identifying key challenges and implementing comprehensive solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe government is working hard to prevent the exploitation of foreign workers in the Maldives, while also ensuring better working conditions for Maldivians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister added that increasing employment opportunities for locals and resolving worker grievances swiftly are among the administration\u2019s immediate goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highlighting the significance of Workers\u2019 Day, Ihusaan noted that it serves as an important reminder of the vital role workers play in national development.
